It's a new school year! The 2019/2020 school year was a huge change for every learner and their families. I moved from Portland, Oregon to Huntington Beach, CA. I grew up here and came home to be closer to my family. It turned out to be even more prudent than I could have imagined. COVID-19 has impacted communities across the country. If there was ever a time to hold your loved ones close, it surely is now.
When I arrived in Huntington Beach, I couldn't wait to get back to work. My job search led me to substitute teaching at the Hebrew Academy of Orange County. It was love at first sight! The students were eager and respectful, the staff was generous with their time and the leadership had a clear vision. When the school went virtual, the subbing jobs vanished but I knew I wanted to find my way back. I am happy to report that the stars aligned for me to return.
We are preparing to open our classrooms back up and welcome eager learners back to their home away from home. It will be the first priority of everyone at HAOC to ensure we handle our opening correctly. We will be ready to address any concerns and adjust our plans if needed. I can't wait to begin!
