About Ms. Gipe
I am ecstatic to be a sixth grade teacher at The Dalles Middle School in The Dalles, Oregon. This will be my first year as a TDMS. I can't wait to get started!
I am a Southern California native who fell in love with Oregon while attending Oregon State University. My studies focused on American history and literature. This means one thing: I love to read! Helping students develop a passion for the written word is at the core of my mission as an educator. My Master of Art in Teaching comes from Marylhurst University. At Marylhurst, I learned how compassion and cultural competency are vital factors in creating a fun and effective classroom community.
I began my pursuit of teaching as an AmeriCorps member at Portland Public School District's largest and most diverse K-8 school. My job was to teach enrichment classes, recruit volunteers, support parents and engage the community. That experience, when paired with my graduate education, has helped me develop my sense of inclusion and my dedication to educational equity.
I love rafting, kayaking and swimming. It is my goal to learn how to play a musical instrument this year.
